JAX® SNP Genotyping Panel
Put the best available molecular sleuths to work for you
To construct congenics, perform genome scans, map genes and QTLs, and monitor genetic quality, our Genome Sciences Services use appropriate subsets of single nucleotide polymorphic (SNP) markers from a validated set of over 2,000 markers. Our scientists developed this unique SNP genotyping panel in 2004 to monitor the genetic quality of our mice. The 2,000+ markers in our set are spaced an average of approximately 1.5 Mb or 0.75cM apart and have been assayed on over 103 JAX® mouse strains, including virtually all of the most commonly used JAX® inbred and wild-derived inbred strains. From these we can easily customize a fully informative panel for just about any strain combination.
Our panel has the following features:
- Reliable, simple, quick, and inexpensive
- Amenable to high throughput and customization
- Higher resolution than simple sequence length polymorphism (SSLP) marker panels
- Much more strain coverage for panel selection than for SSLP panels.
- May be used to genotype mice before they are used as breeders
- JAX's years of unsurpassed experience — the first to offer this service
- Expert genetic analysis provided with every experiment
