Why cryopreserve your mouse strain if you can't successfully recover it?

At The Jackson Laboratory we utilize our unsurpassed expertise and experience along with exacting quality control procedures during cryopreservation to provide the highest probability of successful recovery.

There are several options for recovering embryos cryopreserved through our Speed Cryo or Custom Cryo services, including:

  • Shipment of embryos to you or designated third parties.
  • Transfer of embryos by our staff with shipment of pregnant females.
  • Transfer of embryos by our staff followed by shipment of the resulting offspring.

Recovery yield for our Speed Cryo service typically is from 5 to 10 carrier mice per straw, if you provide a homozygous male. If you provide a heterozygous male, we typically recover from 2 to 6 carrier mice per straw. 

If you have preserved your mice through our Custom Cryo service, recovery rates will vary.

All recoveries can be scaled to meet your needs or combined with Speed Expansion or Breeding Services for a total colony management solution.
