Details
- Each strain is rederived, cryopreserved, genotyped, and assigned a stock number and proper nomenclature
- A Strain Data Sheet is created that includes the following information:
- major genotypic and phenotypic features
- genotyping protocols
- major research applications
- relevant references
- Strain information is published in the Mouse Genome Informatics database and the International Mouse Strain Resource
- Strain's availability and potential applications are announced to the worldwide research community through JAX® Mice News and/or JAX® NOTES
- Donating investigator may elect to receive two pair of rederived mice for the cost of shipping only
Criteria
- Phenotype and/or production of the strain should be published in a peer-reviewed journal
- The strain must have practicable rates of viability and fertility
- A functional allele-specific, PCR-based assay for the strain is required
Pricing
- $2,950 for strains that can be cryopreserved as sperm and recovered and distributed as heterozygotes/hemizygotes on the C57BL/6J, FVB/NJ, BALB/cJ, BALB/cByJ, DBA/1J, DBA/2J, C3H/HeJ, or NOD/ShiLtJ genetic backgrounds
- Pricing varies for strains with other genetic backgrounds or that should be cryopreserved as homozygous embryos (e.g. inbred strains or strains with multiple mutations)
